This wine and liquor store chain offers cost-conscious
products, while retaining its tradition identity as a
speciality shop. This contradiction is not resolved in
concreteʼs floor plan, but instead surfaces in the
cross-section as a single set of shelves that contains
the entire product range, contrary to relegating each
type of product to its own corner as was often done in
the past. This blend of specialised shop and
price-cutting off-licence is a response to a new type
of customer, who inhabits both these worlds, looking
for low prices for his everyday purchases but splashing
out on special occasions.
